First day of really training for a master Shave Ice'er. I wake up around 10am on Lauren and Glen's floor with Dev in a ball on their couch. haha. I then eat a little bit of our leftovers and clean up before I go to the Ailana's by the mall to train with Uncle Gene. Uncle Gene owns the original Ailana's and is really a super nice guy. Apparently he used to be a sports agent for the NBA. He has pictures with Magic Johnson, John Sailey, Kobe Bryant, John Wooden and more. It was pretty crazy to think he was a sports agent because he is super chill now. We got to talking basketball because I was wearing my GSW shirt...ooh how I miss watching my Warriors play. Anywho, we were there from 12-2 just learning to make sauces, like the peanut butter and the coffee syrup. I learned how to make mochi balls and some techniques in pouring. Since I was only there for 2 hours, it wasn't too bad, even Laure and Glen came to get some! It was Lauren's first shave ice, so she said she liked it. haha I then had to meet Sophie for lunch and to discuss about my stay out in HI. It was a nice talk as we ate our bentos from Shirokiya. This place is pretty cool, I wish there was one in the east bay! I had chicken katsu curry which was REALLy good and had a nice conversation with Sophie before my next set of training at The Hibachi in Kailua. I had to train there from around 5-8pm on cash register. It was pretty simple and easy, it's like working at a liquor store...haha which could be a good and bad thing. I told him though, that I would probably only be able maybe a few times a week if any because Ailana's needs more help. So, Mark was pretty understandable, I even got paid today too! Woo..haha my first set of money in Hi. I was also able to take some poke home for dinner, so when I got back to the house, pretty tired from the weekend, I did a load of laundry, made some rice and boiled some veggies. I then made my little bit of food and showered. Sorry this blog is NOT as exciting as the one before but I am just SUPER tired from the weekend. Soo, on to sleeping in my own bed and starting the week off with more training! haha. Ailana's grand opening is TUESDAY!
