10/31

HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone! :D

I wake up feeling refreshed and well rested. I mosey around the house for a bit, deciding if I want to make something to eat now or wait until after I go for a run. I decide to go for a run before making food. It's a quick run, I only run for about 2 miles, then come back home and make myself some yaki-udon with pan fried ahi belly on top. It was pretty good for something quick. I also do a load of laundry, I wash my sheets and towels. I then have to catch up on my blog, so I write a few then head out to the beach. I need some SUN man!

My yaki-udon and pan-seared ahi belly..wasn't that bad actually,
but couldn't finish it all.

My white butt needed the hour long time to absorb the sun. It's always nice and relaxing when I go to the beach, I totally just people watch though. Watch the Japanese tourists with their families and swim around the ocean like a lil' fish. I then get back to the house and get ready because I have work at Hibachi's today. Yup, closing on Halloween. It was okay though, it was pretty slow and chill. I"m there from 3-8pm, I then go home and pack a bag for town because it's HALLOWEEN and Bo wants to go out to Waikiki. Even though it was a monday....but they had more work the next day then I did. Grant (the Chef guy) I work with, made Kim-Chee Fried rice for dinner. Sweet.

Kim-chee fried rice

I then get ready as a Pee Wee, without my jacket because I forgot it in Paul's car and I venture to town. Shima, Dan and Tam are already at Bo's, so we call a cab then head out to Waikiki. It is CROWDED, we get dropped off by the zoo, then have to walk onto Kalakaua, but our first stop is the ABC store, to get some refreshments.

This is the first thing we see, some Pirate Booty...LOL.

The night was pretty crazy, there were crazy costumes and crazy people out. We saw one fight but got out of there quick because when the police came they threw some tear gas into the crowd to break it up. All I know is that the night was fun, but too much fun on a Monday night. I woke up the next morning still in my Pee Wee outfit. haha.

10/30

Uggh...what a rough morning. HAah. We wake up around 9:30 am because we are meeting Auntie Carolyn in Kailua to eat at Cinnamons. So, Grandma, Reid, Cindy, Dev and I make the drive out there. We have to take 2 cars because I have work at 3, I am closing at Hibachi's. We meet Auntie Carolyn, her son and his friend there. Auntie Carolyn is Auntie Sandy''s BFFFF, I guess they've known each other since 7th grade.

Cindy's Fried "Lice" omelette

Red Velvet pancakes!

Crabby patty benedict
I get crab cake benedict again...because I liked it so much last time. Cindy gets a fried "lice" omelette, Reid get's red velvet pancakes, dev get's crab cake benedict and I'm not sure what everyone else got. We sat around the table talking about the weekend, the night before and all that. It was hard for me to concentrate though, I was feeling not so hot. We finally had to say our goodbyes around 12:30... WAHH Cindy and Reid were leaving :( I give them a BIG hug, say good-bye to grandma, Auntie Carolyn and her kids. I then venture back to my home in Kailua, which was about 5 min away. I then take a nap because I have work at 3pm.

I wake up at around 2:30pm and get ready to head to work. I had to close tonight which I haven't done ever. The night was a pretty chill night, a good amount of people came in but it was never too busy. By the end, we are out of there by 8:00pm, so that was pretty chill. I got to eat some Tako poke, kim chee and got to take home some Ahi Belly.

Some tako poke and fresh kim chee. yummy

After work I go home and do some loads of laundry, from the weekend. I then catch up on some Jersey Shore and netflix. It was such a relaxing night of doing nothing, I was pretty excited about that. PLUS I got to sleep with my blanket. Haha :) Tomorrow is Halloween so having a chill night was well worth it.

10/29

Today I wake up at 8:30am-9:00 at Grandma Sugai's house because we are going to the Swap meet. It would be my first time going since I've been here and what better time to go then with Reid and Cindy. We get to the Swap meet around 10:30am and it was fun to walk around. See all the crazy aloha shirts and souvenirs. I definitely have to come back here before I leave for home, tons of great things and great deals. While there we also met up with Lauren, Glen, Mike Nish and Eunice. They came a little later so we ran into them as we were making our round around the stadium. I didn't get much, just sunglasses and power bands. Reid got his halloween costume and so did Cindy. I was a little sad because I couldn't find a BOW TIE at the swap meet....c'mon people. ahha.

There were a ton of PowerBands all of the place...
Look at how cool some of the designs are.

After swap meet we were hungry, so we head to Asahi Grill for some Bomb.com oxtail soup. And dude, it was good. I haven't had oxtail since I've been out here, so it brought me back to the late night trips in Vegas during the ball tourney. I got oxtail with ramen, but sort of wished I just got oxtail because it was so yummy. Cindy killed her oxtail, but it was def. worth it.

No more oxtail for Cindy!

Ramen and oxtail...broth was delicious!

We were then on a mission to find the rest of the pieces to our Halloween costumes, I still needed a top, bottom, bow tie and shoes. So, we hit up Wal Mart! I found a collared shirt and some shoes, but I was really debating if I wanted to get either the plain white ones or some Fubu's HAha. Jk. I just thought it was hilarious that they still sold some Fubu's. I was sad though, they didn't have any little boy bow ties...but I guess people in Hawaii don't wear them.

Some plain VELCRO shoes...haha

Or should I rock the Fubu's? HAha

Things that I still needed for my costume: X=Got 'Em O=Still Need

X: Blazer
X: Collared Shirt
X: White Shoes
O: Pants
O: Red Bow Tie

Obviously, I still need some important parts to complete my costume, so we then head to Ross. Cindy gets the rest of her costume and I find some bottoms. I get a grey skirt because I will be the girl version of Pee Wee. :) Success!! The only thing left is the bow tie, which Ross did not have.

It seemed like it was long day of walking around, so after Ross we go back to Grandma's house because there is a salvation army close by. Maybe they have bow ties there, but I guess they also have a fabric store across the street because my last option would be to make one. I found some red fabric and decided that I just had to make a bow tie. We also go to the salvation army, because its up the hill and Reid needs some short shorts. :) Since Reid and Cindy have a dinner to go to around 6:30 and we are pretty much pooped from running errands all day and we take a nap. I totally passed out on the couch watching Top chef.

Reid and Cindy go to dinner and Dev picks me up to go to Bo's. Dev had a test all day for work, which basically sucked for him. We go to Tamura's to pick up some poke then head to Bo's because they were watching a UFC fight. We basically chill there until Reid and Cindy were done with their dinner. We also had to convince Bo to go out, he was being a little weak sauce because he had to wake up early to go diving. BUT we totally convinced him and go back to Grandma's house to change into our costumes.

A Doctor, Lifeguard, Pee Wee and Dorky tourist

Whatcha' know about Pee Wee.

We started out going downtown, and it was nuts. Soo, many people dressed up and having a great time. I unfortunately do not have any pictures, only Reid and Cindy do. So, check out their Facebook pages. :) All I know is that it was definitely a GREAT time that night...Cindy and I danced the night away and I was stoked that some people came up to me and was like PEE WEE! Haha..def made my night. I guess I can now say I got a Halloween in Hawaii under my belt. :)

10/28

Today woke up at grandma Sugai's house as we were going to hike! We decided that the best place to go (because it was raining yesterday and raining this morning as well) so we thought Koko head would be too muddy and we venture out to Diamond head. We get to Diamond head around 10 and man was it crowded! But it was the first time I went there, so I was ready to conquer it. The hike was definitely EASY compared to Koko head, we prob could've gone up it in like 20min or less if there wasn't so many people up there. But it was nice once we got up to the top.

Pano APP!

Look how cool this looks

Can you find Cindy and Reid?

Nice view?

We made it!

Diamond Head

After Diamond Head we go back home to change into swim gear, the plan was to go to North Shore...another first time for me. :) We then head to and first stop...Matsumoto's Shave Ice....I mean, I gotta try the competition.

Matsumotos

It wasn't bad, but the ice was a bit icey. But that does mean you
can eat it and it won't melt right away.

After Matsumoto's we make a few more stops and then finally make it to Turtle Bay. The view over there was really nice but we didn't see any turtles...wahh... WE did however get some pretty cool photos!

We like BIG Hawaiian Warriors :)

Can you find me?

Where's Waldo...

Pretty cool panorama

After turtle bay we finally make it to Giovanni's Shrimp truck, MMM...garlic shrimp that makes our breath kicken' for the rest of the day. But dang, was it worth it, soo, good.

MMM...garlic shrimp

We then make it almost around the whole island and back to Kailua. I then show Reid and Cindy my abode' and we chill for a bit..because I forgot part of my Halloween costume at home. I also shower and grab some extra clothes. After, we venture back to Grandma Sugai's house...we just have to go through "Jurassic Park"to get there. Haha. When we get back to grandma's house I FaceTime my family because it is Popo's birthday. Everyone was at Auntie Linda's so, I totally missed out. :( Bo then comes over and we head to Waikiki to go bar hopping. Our first stop, Nobu and then we go to Yard House...but SOMEONE called a early night...Reid... so we left early and went to bed.

10/27

Today was Hibachi's day and it was a pretty chill, not to busy but not too slow. The only thing that was a bit rough was that I had to stay a little longer then planned. I guess the girl that was supposed to relieve the girl from Fatboys was really really late. So, I stayed an extra 1.5 hours...which wasn't bad. I just had to get ready and head into town to meet up with Reid and Cindy. We were going to take Grandma out to dinner at Side Street Inn, for her 87th birthday.

Before we left we found a baby gecko on the ground...look how little it is!

I then meet up with Reid and Cindy at grandmas around 5:30pm, they just got back from their trip on Lanai so it was perfect timing. I also bought Grandma Sugai bottles of wine from Dev and I. We then head out to side st and meet up with Dev. Food was super good, we order a bunch too. We had garlic edamame, 2 orders of fried pork chops, fried chicken, misoyaki chicken, chicken salad, fried rice and poke. All this food for 6 people, (Reid's Auntie also came with us) and let me tell you that the food at Side Street is NOT small portions, so there was a lot of lefts overs. We also got a dessert and it came out with a candle for grandma's birthday.

Trying out the Pano app, Grandma, Auntie and Dev

Happy 87th Birthday Grandma Sugai!

Make a wish! :)

After dinner we drove back and dropped grandma off then headed to Imua Lounge because Bo's cousin Kevin and his group Kahua was performing there. It was a very chill night, we met up with Tam, Dan, Shima, Bo, Tricia, Paul and then later hoale Anthony shows up. We stayed until about midnight but then Cindy and I get tired and want to go home. The boys, Bo, Dev, Shima, Paul and Reid stay out a little longer and go to Club 939....haha you can look that place up on your own. But let's just say Cindy and I wanted to just go home instead. :) The boys get back at who knows when and my sleep gets interrupted by some fool that jumps on me. A HEAVY *ss dev. I was so tired though that I didn't really wake up...haha. Tomorrow we are going hiking...so I needed my beauty sleep. :)

10/26

Today I woke up and it was Ailana's day, I get in around 11:00am and today is actually a pretty good day. We have a good flow of people coming in and a lot of folks found us on yelp. Shout out to Reid! :) It was especially busy when we were trying to eat lunch...I had leftover pasta and shared a salad with Aaron from Grylt.

"Cream" Lobster pasta I made with Auntie Jojo (Dev K's mom)

We basically had a rush until about 3...which is awesome because it's nice to know that our shop is getting around. I then stay around until about 7pm because I was going to meet up Kento at Tsukuneya by University. We got a bunch of izakaya, zen tofu, hamachi with potato, chawan mushi, garlic chicken, furikake chicken, shitake mushroom, and ended with ochozuke. Sounds like a lot of food for 2 people...and it kind of was but it's izakaya, so it's small portions. :) It is always nice to catch up with like long lost family. I think the last time we actually talked I was about 10years old, or when my grandpa died. And I always thought he was an "old" cousin. Haha. After dinner I venture back to Kailua because I have work in the AM at Hibachi. I do some laundry and then get a text from Aaron. I gave him a signed picture of Davone Bess to give to the kids, I guess they loved it because he sent me this.

Micah and Zach. HAha...I like how Micah is looking all 'hard'. :)
I'm just glad they like it!

I think that's a nice way to end the night. Hibachi tomorrow AM, then grandma's bday tomorrow night! :)

10/25

Today I woke up and headed to Ailana's for work time. I got there around 11am and then asked Melissa to make me a grilled cheese sandwich. I don't think I've had one of those in years so it was really good. Except I probably could've ate about 2 of them. :) Haha. I stayed there until about 4:30 and then went to Ross and got a frame for Micha and the rest of Aaron's kids. I got an autographed Bess photo, so I wanted to give it to them.

I then go find a RedBox because I want to rent Bridesmaids. I then go to Dev's house and help Auntie Jojo make dinner. We make a white pasta with spinach and baby lobster. I was actually really proud of myself...haha it turned out pretty good. We also had broccoli on the side with shoyu-mayo. I forgot to take a picture of it! >.< darn...but it was kind of nice making dinner for more then just me!

After dinner Dev and I go to Powerhouse! I run 2 miles, then do some weights and abs. Then we get back and watch Bridesmaids...I think it's more fun watching with your bridesmaids friends hahaha. I don't know if boys get it as much.

10/24

Today was shave ice day and I woke up at Grandma's house. Reid and Cindy were heading to Lanai today because Reid won a trip from his old work, so of course they had to go. They were staying at some 4 star hotel...pre-wedding trip! haha. Reid and Cindy got picked up around 10am and I didn't have work until 11:30am, so I kicked it with grandma. Grandma is so funny, I asked her if she heard us come into the house last night because she was sleeping. This is how our conversation went:

Grandma: "No, I passed out, I was drunk from my 2 glasses of wine...I used to be able to drink more, but I can't now, I don't know why" :(

Me: "Grandma, do you drink beer too?"

Grandma: "No, I only drink wine....and vodka." hahaa :)

Pretty much Grandma is awesome. I then hang out and watch The Price is Right with her until I head into town for work. Shave ice was a very chill day I work until about 4pm and then go home for a bit to hug my blanket, check my mail and do some laundry.

I had the Mac Nut encrusted Snapper. It was pretty good and really big.

I took a nap too and then headed back into town to hit some golf balls with Dev, Mike and Kam. Which probably meant I was going to stay at Dev's house again. We hit golf balls until about 9:30pm and everyone tries swinging with their opposite hand...pretty funny.

Dev trying to hit as a righty. :)

Kam trying to hit lefty.

Me trying to hit lefty...I guess I should stick with being a righty.

We then go back to Dev T's house and chill there for a bit. Aloha HI. Since I always talk about the "other" Dev or Dev. T, here is one of his you tubes...he used to be in a band called epic session. He's the guy in the front, playing the guitar wearing brown.

10/23

Today I wake up with some new art work all over my legs....so, obviously it was one of Dev's friends. Haha. Dev also has a bunch of writing on his legs too, this is dangerous because I always pass out early. O.o

We wake up really early because Dev and Marci have a softball tournament and his first game is at 8:30am. Plus, I have to get my car because it was at Lauren and Glen's place. We didn't have enough time to pick up my car first, so we go to the game. Luckily it wasn't too hot out there, but unfortunately they lost.

Dev

Marci and Dev

Marci's Swing

After their game, we go to Safeway and pick up some food, like sandwiches and what not. Then Marci and Dev drop me off at Lauren and Glens to get my car. I hang out with them until I have to pick up Reid and Cindy! :D YAY they're in town. We then go to Grandma Sugai's house to drop of their things and head to Kahala to grab some L&L. Grandmas Sugai is awesome, she's so cute and funny. We get chicken katsu, bbq chicken and I get curry, then we head out because Dev has another baseball game. This time they actually WON..haha woo. And Reid and Cindy were able to see them before they head off to Lanai tomorrow morning.

We then go get shave ice at Ailana's and Reid helps us make a yelp deal. haha Thanks Mr. Yelper :) Dev meets us there later and I make him some too. We then head back to Grandmas Sugai's house and chill out a bit until dinner at 7:30 with Reid's cousins and aunties. We eat at a Chinese restaurant up the street from grandma's house. It wasn't bad but the service was pretty slow. Grandma was funny, she had 2 glasses of her Merlot wine, so once we got back she was like "okay, bedtime." Grandma Sugai is 87 years old and the sharpest tool in the shed, plus she walks around all over. It's pretty amazing.

This fish was at the Chinese restaurant...it was really scary looking.

Dev, Bo and Sean then meet us up at Grandma's house before we head out to Tsunamis for more darts. HAha.. yes Tsunami's it's like we are regulars because the waitresses def. recognize us. Bo and I are on the same dart team, so of course we win. Haha. After a couple of hours there we head back to Grandma's house and I pass out. Yay to having Reid and Cindy in town. :D

10/22

Woke up at 8:30am and got ready because I was going to hang out with Cierra and Hunter, my cousin Kirk's kids. I was meeting them at 10am and was supposed to take them to Punahou to shoot some hoops, yes the school where Obama went to. Cierra is in 6th grade and is going there now. We ended up shooting hoops for about 2 min then they wanted to play on the swings and jungle gym. HAha. Punahou School is really really nice, they have about 4 different basketball courts, new buildings, tons of play structures, a pond and I"m sure a bunch more. Cierra was showing me all around and then we went to "Middle earth?" or something like that to play on the jungle gym. They wanted to play this game called colors, which was basically tag. Those kids made me work! haha, I was sweating climbing all over the place trying to catch them. We played at punahou for about 2 hours then I told them we had to meet up with their parents because we were going to get dim sum.

Cierra and Hunter on the swings.

EXCEPT, both Cierra and Hunter didn't want to meet up with their parents and wanted to just eat with the 3 of us. Hunter said, "I'll be hungry if it's just US going." haha. So, we head out to New Empress because it's Cierra's favorite dim sum place.

Hunter eating his dim sum.

Thought this sign was funny, no urinating, dumping or spitting!

After dim sum the kids convinced me to go to Chuck E. Cheese, haha...yeah I know, deep down, I guess I wanted to go. :) So, I told them we would go for 1 hour because I was going to meet up with Lauren and Glen. They definitely LOVED Chuck E. Cheeses, and it was actually pretty fun to hang out with the lil' cousins, made me miss my lil' kids at home too though, (Jace, Jayden and Dru!)

Cierra playing some games

Hunter went straight to the video games, I almost lost him.

The kids counting their tickets.

Look at their prizes, a sucker, 'microphone' and two blue sharks.

I then went to go drop the kids off at their house, it was an actual fun day babysitting the kids. I'll have to do it more often, maybe every other weekend haha. After, I go meet up with Lauren and Glen and we cruise for a lil' bit at the house and decide that we want to watch a movie. Ughh.. and guess what type of movie they want to see? A Scary one!! We go watch Paranormal 3...ummm, I'm pretty sure I was trying to be "asleep" for most of the movie, poor Lauren got car sick watching :(

Look at how long these hot dogs are...haha

we are heifers. :)

After the movies, we were tired, so we walked back to their place and sadly when we were walking glen stepped in a pothole on the sidewalk and hurt his ankle...again! WAhh... :( So, that meant they probably wouldn't come out tonight. It was Marci's bday so the plan was Tsunamis!

Dev, Lorin, Haylin and one of their other friends come and pick me up from Lauren and Glen's place around midnight. And then we drive out to tsunamis for some darts and good times! I am basically turning into a dart player, I guess I'm going to have to buy my own darts because using real ones is so much better then the house ones. haha. After Tsunamis, Haylin drives us back to Devs house and we end up running around more...next thing we know dev is missing, so we end up looking for him...and guess where he was? haha.

I guess you can say he had a good night. :)

10/21

I wake up at 8:30am to get ready for KoKo Head trail and drive out to town to pick up Kelcie and Jenya. We were supposed to meet up Tam to hike it but she got busy so she couldn't make it. We finally find the place and hit the trail around 10:30am. I had to ask Mark for directions, because I knew it was in Hawaii Kai, but didn't exactly know how to get to the park and HK is Mark's part of town. OMG the hike was intense NO lie. Last night, Pete, Komas and Bo were telling me how "it was really tough, it was really tough....i mean YOU gotta make it to the top. You just gotta do it, don't stop." I was thinking in my head when they seemed like they were doubting my athleticism to do it, like c'mon it can't be THAT tough. Bo was saying how if you can do it in around 30min, you're good, so that 30 min was def my goal. BUT, ok ok, they weren't lying, it was tough hike, it was just straight UP.

Yup, it just goes UP, to the very top of the hill....It's like the stairway to heaven.

Jenya was a beast up that thing though, she made it in like 25 min, Kelc and I made it in 30. BUT it def felt like we had to stop and bit and I had to catch my breath. It was like at basketball practice where you had to run sprints and then when you stop, you put your hands on your knees gasping for air...except instead we made about 30 steps up then had to catch our breath. haha. It was like doing the stair master x100! BUT MAN...once you reach the top the breeze was awesome but the view was even better! It was also nice because it wasn't too hot and there seemed to be some breeze when we were walking up.

We made it!

Well worth the view...

Look at those clouds....

360 view, it was windy up there!

After our HUGE accomplishment of making it to the top, I was HUNGRY....I was actually getting hungry as we were walking all the way up and down. Down was pretty hard too, kind of hard on your knees and I almost bit it a couple of times. There are some crazy people that run down that thing, but I guess some people do it like every weekend, multiple times. That definitely means they are SUPER in shape. So, after we work up an appetite I take them to Cinnamons in Kailua, which is a breakfast/brunch place that are known for their red velvet pancakes. I'm going to have to say, that I liked this place more then Boots and Kimos! I got the crab cake benedict, kelcie got blueberry pancakes with sausage and Jenya got a artichoke pesto omelette with a red velvet and guava pancake. We all shared the pancakes and OMG...i have to say the red velvet was my fav! My benedict was also really good too.

Jenya's artichoke/pesto omelette

Kelc blueberry pancakes, eggs and sausage

crab cake benedict...BOMB

Guava pancake and red velvet pancake. I liked the red velvet better.

After breakfast I show them my place and pack a bag for town; we were planning to go to yoga at 4:30 with Steffy at Power Yoga. I kind of take awhile to figure out what to pack, they were saying that they wanted to go clubbing, so I was figuring out what I wanted to wear plus I was just exhausted from the hike. By the time I pack and we get back to town is around 3:15 and since Kelc and Jenya are active yoga goers, they say we should be there at least 15-30 min before the class to sign up so we can't really go up and nap. :'( I def take a nap in the car though as they go upstairs to change. That 15 min power nap really helped because I felt a lot better after. We get to the yoga studio around 4pm, it's right by Buti Groove and sadly Steffy couldn't meet us there. :( But we still end up taking the class, it was from 4:30-6:00pm. OMG...I was sweating like a man again but felt really good after. I was trying to do one pose and definitely fell on my face, hahah but I was able to stand on my head with the support of a student. :) It felt pretty good to be so active today, felt like I sweat out all the bad toxins from the week.

After another hour and a half of working out, we go back to Kelcie's room and get cleaned up. We then meet Kelc friend Jeff for dinner at Siam Square which is walking distance from their hotel. I had pad thai (boring I know, but ooh so good.) And after sitting there and fading away because of our vigorous work outs all day, we decide not to go "clubbing." YAY...as the day went on, I was secretly hoping they didn't want to go anymore. ahha. So, after we say our good-byes and I venture back to Kalilua. Before I get home though I saw that gas was only $4.04 YAY...so I had to stop and get some. Then I did a load of laundry cuz' my work out clothes were disgusting and now I'm just lying in bed. I think it's time for netflix, gotta wake up early and meet up with Cierra and Hunter in the morning! :)
